Independent Claude training for New Zealand organisations, delivered by practitioners from TheColab.
TheColab
TheColab is a New Zealand community of people building with AI. Membership is free and open across the country. Alongside the community, TheColab runs a talent platform and an advisory practice. It was founded by Simon Conroy and Adam Holt.
The trainers are practitioners who use these tools in their own work, so sessions focus on what works in practice, including where the tools fall short. Join the community to keep learning after the training.

Being independent means we will tell you when another tool, or a simpler process, fits your problem better.
What you won’t find here
- Testimonials, client logos, ratings or case studies we cannot show you with permission.
- Counts of people trained, or results we have not measured.
- Any link to Anthropic: we are not a partner, reseller or official trainer.
- Forecasts of which jobs AI will change. The desk-based share is a signal of where AI assistance applies, not a prediction.
What you will find is public data, cited sources, and a plain description of how we train.
Where the local numbers come from
The 16 region, 61 district and 201 town briefs use Stats NZ data: the 2023 Census (occupations, industries, status in employment, travel to work, household internet) and Business Demography Statistics for February 2020 and 2025 (business locations and employees by industry). National comparisons come from the same tables.
Desk-based roles are the ANZSCO major groups managers, professionals, clerical and administrative workers, and sales workers: 63.6% of employed New Zealanders. The International Labour Organization’s 2025 study of generative AI and jobs finds these groups hold the most tasks an AI assistant can help with. The groups are too broad to score individual jobs, so we use the share as an indicative signal of where training applies, not as a forecast.
Stats NZ randomly rounds small counts and suppresses confidential cells. Where a figure is suppressed we say “not published”; we never estimate it. The data is licensed under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0. Local research on town pages lists its sources, with dates.
